GNOSIS
ASSOCIATION FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH
ON THE HYPOTHESIS OF SURVIVAL

[line]

In July, 1981, the GNOSIS ASSOCIATION FOR MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH ON THE HYPOTHESIS OF SURVIVAL was founded in Naples - Italy by Professor Giorgio di Simone, well know in his country for his many years of work in the field of parapsychology.

The Association was created as a response - which can be put off no longer - to the problem facing man's conscience and reason with regard to the question of the possible existence of a self-aware, autonomous nucleus, indipendent of bio-physical laws and capable of operating on its own, that is to say, of continuing to function with intelligenge and power of decision even after the dissolution of the biological organism.

The GNOSIS Association was therefore set up as a corporation that plans to gather, analyze and critically evaluate - over as wide a multidisciplinary range as possible - all the speculative and research data, experimental or other wise, which may be considered as clues in favour of the basic hypothesis. The GNOSIS Association could thus become a centre of observation and development for a specific discipline devoted to the study of the basic hypothesis and leading to the formulation of an ethical (rational) theory on the possible existential continuity of that "self-aware autonomous nucleus", of which the human being as such may represent: a function of activity and experience limited within space/time.

Upon this premise, the GNOSIS Association is open to any qualified form of cooperation or contribution, both from individual scholars and from associations or corporations, and proposes itself, in the context of today's cultural setting, as first element of unification and discussion on the theme under research, while remaining in a position of total objectivity, and equally separate and removed both from the irrationally magical and from religious dogmatism. To this end it also furthers an exchange of information, particularly with Italian and foreign associations sharing its basic premises, in order to increase the chances of an approach to the target.

RESEARCH WORK BY GNOSIS ASSOCIATION IS DIVIDED INTO FOUR MAIN AREAS:

1) Observation and Theoretical Elaboration (particularly through studies on the comparative history of religions, on cultural anthropology and on the philosophies).

2) Analysis and Elaboration of the more strictly accurated date supplied by parapsychology (both on a scientific level, and in the humanistic area already being worked upon by G.di Simone and other scholars, and with especial reference to OBEs, altered states of consciouness (ASC), possible "mediumistic" states, near-death experiences and precognitive phenomena).

3) Analysis and Critical Elaboration of data obtained from other sciences ( in particular from: psychology, psychiatry, psychoanalysis and related studies; the neuro-sciences, biology, tanatology, quantum physics, etc.)

4) Experimental Work (especially in the field of OBEs, ASCs - trance, hypnosis, dreams, coma, etc.-, in intensive-care units, in anaesthesia before operations, in technical checks on certain people and surroundings and in the setting-up of new types of experimentation in accordance with the primary aims of the Association)

The Gnosis Association publishes QUADERNI GNOSIS (The Gnosis Journal) annual.

For the past several years it has been the promoter of the annual Convention in Arezzo on Scientific, Humanistic/Existencial and "border line" parapsychological research.

Psychotemporal model by Dr. Carlo M.Trajna

Summary: This panpsychical theory generalizes a model which was published in the September 1990 issue of "Quaderni Gnosis". Its title was: <A THEORETICAL MODEL FOR THE PSYCHOPHYSICAL AUTOMATISMS INVOLVED IN PARANORMAL ELECTROMAGNETIC RECORDINGS AND IN THE PRODUCTION OF DIRECT RADIO VOICES. >.

The theory's two basic hypoteses are these:

As with any theory based on hypotesis and inference, the basic hypoteses and propositions give rise to a number of mathematical deductions.

These are:

1) Differential perception of the signals: As soon as the flow speed of psychic time becomes different from the flow speed of physical time, the differential perception of the speed of the psychic information-signals and the speed of the biological information-signals takes the form of "time sensation". The mathematical formulation of this shows that it is expressed whith the logarithm of the imaginary flow speed of psychic time.

2) Psychotemporal wave: Psychic time flows in "temporal quanta" whose duration is expressed with the same mathematical formulation of the "time sensation" . Due to the well-know properties of imaginary numbers and logarithms, at the unconscious level every four psychic temporal quanta the duration of psychic time is conceived as "real", that is an actual confirmation of physical time. This psychotemporal wave is involved in ESP and PK phenomena. This theory receives firmer support if amongst the above-mentioned inferences some are theoretical propositions that have already been made in the past, and in relation to which the theory itself can be generalized. This applies to the followings:
